Motorized retractable screen on a patio

Measured on site · custom-fit

—  POWER SCREENS · BUFFALO & WNY

MOTORIZED SCREENS MEASURED AND BUILT FOR YOUR OPENING

A power screen rolls down out of a slim housing to close off a patio, porch, lanai or garage opening, and disappears back up when you don’t need it. No frames in the way, no storm panels to haul out.

GearHouse measures every opening on site and orders screens built to that size, with the mesh, housing color and controls you choose. We install at homes, restaurants, bars and event spaces, and we walk you through the remote before we leave.

—  SCREEN TYPES  —

THE RIGHT SCREEN FOR YOUR SPACE

Each screen is built to your opening with the mesh and controls that fit how you’ll use it.

INSECT SCREENS

Fine mesh that keeps mosquitoes and flies out while air and the view stay in. The everyday choice for patios and porches.

SOLAR SHADE SCREENS

Blocks most of the sun’s heat and glare so a west-facing patio or garage bay stays usable in the afternoon.

CLEAR-VINYL WEATHER SCREENS

Seals out wind and rain and holds in heat from a patio heater, stretching the season into late fall.

GARAGE DOOR SCREENS

Turn a garage into a screened workshop or hangout: the screen lowers behind the open door and lifts out of the way for the car.

—  MOTORIZED VS. FIXED SCREENS

MOST PATIOS DON’T NEED AN ENCLOSURE. THEY NEED THE RIGHT SCREEN.

A motorized screen gives you a bug-free, shaded space when you want it and an open patio when you don’t. No framing, no permanent walls, and nothing to take down in the fall.

Fixed screen panels and sunrooms lock in the view year-round and cost a lot more to build. A power screen rolls up into a slim housing so the patio looks exactly like it did before, until you press the button.

  • Disappears when not in use
  • Installed in a day
  • A fraction of the cost of a sunroom
  • Fits patios, porches & garages
Our recommendation

Power screen

  • Lowers and retracts at the touch of a button
  • Insect, solar or clear-vinyl mesh
  • Keeps the open-air feel and the view
  • Installed in a single day

Typical cost:a fraction of an enclosure

Screen enclosure

  • Weeks of construction and permits
  • Permanent frames block the view
  • Fixed panels to clean, repair and replace
  • Right only when you want a true four-season room

Typical cost:thousands, plus construction

If a full enclosure really is the right fit for your space, we’ll tell you plainly and point you to a good builder.
—  WHERE POWER SCREENS WORK

ONE SCREEN, A LOT MORE USABLE SPACE

Any covered opening with a header to mount to is a candidate. These are the spaces we screen most around Buffalo.

Patios & covered porches

Close off bugs at dusk without framing in the view.

Lanais & three-season rooms

Replace flimsy fixed screens with ones that disappear in winter.

Garage openings

A screened garage makes a workshop, gym or kids’ play space.

Restaurant & bar patios

Keep the outdoor seating open more weeks a year and rent it for events.

Pergolas & pavilions

Side screens with sun sensors that lower on their own.

Pool houses & cabanas

Shade and privacy at the push of a button.

RESTAURANT OR BAR PATIO?

Commercial-grade screens with wind sensors keep outdoor seating open from April into October. We work around your hours and train your staff on the controls.

—  FAQ  —

POWER SCREEN QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

It depends on the size of the opening, the mesh and the controls. A single patio opening is the smallest job; a multi-bay restaurant patio with sun and wind sensors is more. We measure on site and give you a firm price before anything is ordered, and the estimate is always free.

A single screen covers openings up to about 25 feet wide. Wider spaces are done with two or more screens that meet on a shared post.

Yes. The screen rolls fully into its housing when it’s not in use, so the mesh is protected from snow and ice. Wind sensors retract the screen automatically in a storm.

Yes. A garage screen mounts inside the opening, lowers behind the open garage door and lifts out of the way when you need to pull the car in.

Most residential installs are finished in a single day. Screens are custom-built, so plan on a few weeks between the measurement and the install.
