A NEW DOOR ONLY WHEN IT’S REALLY TIME

GearHouse is a repair company first, so a new door from us is never a sales pitch. We recommend replacement when the sections are rusted through or rotted, the door is structurally bent, it’s a discontinued style we can’t match panels for, or the repair bill is getting close to the price of a door.

When it is time, we measure the opening, help you choose the style, insulation and windows that fit your house and budget, and install it with new track, springs sized to the door and your existing opener if it’s in good shape.

—  WHAT WE INSTALL  —

NEW GARAGE DOORS IN BUFFALO, NY

Three styles cover almost every house in Western New York. We’ll help you pick the one that fits.

INSULATED STEEL

The workhorse: durable, low-maintenance and warm. The right choice for attached garages in a Buffalo winter.

CARRIAGE HOUSE

The look of swing-out barn doors with the convenience of an overhead sectional. Big curb appeal.

FULL-VIEW GLASS

Aluminum frames with glass or polycarbonate panels for modern homes, shops and patios.

COMPLETE INSTALL

New track, rollers, springs sized to the door, weather seal, haul-away and a balance test before we leave.

—  REPAIR FIRST

MOST GARAGE DOORS DON’T NEED REPLACING. THEY NEED THE RIGHT REPAIR.

GearHouse is a repair company first. We install new doors only when we truly have to. So when we say a spring or cable will fix it, that’s a repair, not a sales pitch.

A snapped spring, a frayed cable, a bent track or a dented section looks dramatic, but it’s one part on an otherwise good door. Fixing that part costs a fraction of a new door, keeps the opener and hardware you already own, and is usually done the same day.

  • Keep the door you have
  • Same-day, usually one visit
  • Save hundreds to thousands vs. new
  • New doors only when it really is time
Our recommendation

Repair it

  • Same-day, usually one visit
  • Springs, cables, rollers, panels & openers
  • Keeps the door and opener you already own
  • A fraction of the cost of a new door

Typical cost:a fraction of a new door

Replace it

  • Lead times of days to weeks
  • Thousands for the door, plus installation
  • Usually unnecessary when one part failed
  • The right call for rusted-through, rotted or badly damaged doors

Typical cost:thousands, plus lead time

If your door is one of the few that really is past saving, we’ll tell you plainly and install a quality replacement ourselves.
—  WHEN TO REPLACE

SIGNS A DOOR IS PAST REPAIRING

We repair far more doors than we replace. These are the situations where a new door is honestly the better value.

Rust through the sections

Surface rust is cosmetic. Rust that’s eaten through the steel means the panel can’t hold hardware.

Rotted wood door

Once the stiles and rails are soft, the door can’t be hinged or weighed reliably.

Bent or twisted door

A door racked by a vehicle hit across several sections won’t ever run true again.

Discontinued style

If we can’t match a damaged section, replacing one panel isn’t an option.

Repair bill near a new door

When springs, cables, rollers and sections are all due at once, a new door can cost about the same.

No insulation on an attached garage

Not a failure, but an uninsulated door on a heated house costs money every winter.

INSTALLED BY THE CREW THAT REPAIRS THEM

We spend most days fixing doors other people installed, so we know what fails: undersized springs, cheap rollers, track hung off plumb. Our installs are done the way we’d want to find them on a service call ten years from now.

Whether it’s a single door on a Cape in Kenmore or a double carriage-house door in Orchard Park, you get one quote, one crew and a door that runs right from day one.

  • Repair quoted first, always
  • Upfront pricing, free estimate
  • Installed by our own crew
  • Manufacturer & labor warranty

NEW GARAGE DOOR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

A standard insulated steel single door installed is the entry point; double doors, carriage-house styles, windows and full-view glass cost more. We quote on site with the exact door, and the estimate is free. We’ll also quote the repair so you can compare.

Repair it unless the sections are rusted through or rotted, the door is bent across several panels, the style is discontinued, or the repair bill is close to a new door. We inspect and give you both prices side by side.

Most residential installs are finished in half a day. Custom doors take a few weeks to arrive after you order.

Usually, yes, if it’s under about 12 years old and has safety sensors. We’ll check it and tell you. A heavier new door sometimes needs a stronger opener, and we’ll say so upfront.

If the garage is attached or heated, yes. An insulated door keeps the garage and the rooms above it warmer, runs quieter and holds up better. For a detached, unheated garage a non-insulated door is fine.

Yes. Removal and haul-away of the old door, track and springs is included in every installation.
